Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which suppresses bacterial growth. That preservative is what separates it from plain sterile water. It is supplied in a sealed vial by the manufacturer and we don’t open, decant or repack it.
Store the sealed vial at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Once the stopper has been punctured, keep it refrigerated and use it within the period appropriate to your protocol. Don’t use it if the seal is broken or the solution is discoloured or cloudy.
